The operatives of Sagamu Area Command of Ogun State Police Command, have said that they in synergy with community stakeholders and sister security agencies, arrested 146 suspects in various hideouts and black spots suspected to be hiding places for men of the underworld.
Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ogun State Police Command confirmed the arrest.
Babaseyi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police
(DSP) said the arrests were made during a coordinated special raid operation, code-named “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe,” adding that it was part of deliberate measures to prevent crime and address emerging security concerns within Sagamu and its environs.
The police image maker said the operation followed a series of strategic engagements with traditional authorities, the Sagamu Local Government Council, and heads of security agencies aimed at strengthening collaborative security architecture.

“The intelligence-led operation, conducted in the early hours of April 13, 2026, targeted identified flashpoints within Sagamu, where suspected criminal elements had been observed to pose threats to public peace and safety. The operation was designed to forestall any breakdown of law and order and reinforce public safety across the area.”
According to the PPRO, the operation was jointly executed by personnel of the Nigeria Police Force alongside the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Amotekun Corps, the Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), demonstrating a unified and proactive security response framework.

“The suspects are currently undergoing screening to ascertain their individual levels of involvement in the reported criminal activities. Those found culpable will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for discreet investigation and necessary legal action.”
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Police Command, CP Bode Ojajuni has commended the synergy, professionalism, and operational discipline exhibited by all participating security agencies.
He assured residents of Ogun State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to intelligence-led, proactive policing and sustained efforts to ensure peace, safety, and security across the state.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through the Ogun State Police Command emergency lines as follows: Gateway Shield (Toll-Free) 0800 000 9111; Emergency numbers: 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369, and 0708 497 2994.
