Beneficiaries of the N37.66m in a group photograph with CP Abaniwonda and other senior officers of his Command in Asaba, Delta State on Tuesday.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda has on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbotokun presented cheques of N37,663,936 to thirty -five (35) officers who died in active service.

The cheques were presented on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Police Command who confirmed this said the cheques issued on behalf of the IGP are part of the IGP Family Welfare Scheme and Group Life Assurance.

He said, “The Commissioner of Police Delta State while presenting the cheques noted that the Nation and the Nigeria Police Force appreciates the sacrifices made by their loved once who served in the Nigeria Police Force before their death, and also stated that the welfare of families of both serving and late officers are part of the interest of the Inspector General of Police, and it’s on his behalf that these cheques were presented to them.”

The PPRO added that the CP  also appreciated the gesture by the IGP, as the cheques would in no small way act as a boost to the families and also a way of letting them know that, though their loved ones are no more, the Force did not forget their sacrifices.

He said one of the beneficiaries, Miss Chidinma Paul, thanked the IGP for his magnanimity, noting that the money given to them will be used judiciously.
