ACG Dera Nnadi, immediate past Customs Area Controller, Tincan Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (right) and the new Acting Controller of the Command, Deputy Comptroller Onyeka during the handing and taking over ceremony in Lagos at the weekend.

Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Frank Onyeka, is now the new Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service, Tincan Island Command.

This follows the exit of the immediate past Controller of the Command, Dera Ndadi who has been appointed Assistant Comptroller General of Customs.

This  marks a new dawn for the Customs TPC.

During the handing over ceremony at the weekend, Onyeka, in an acceptance speech thanked his predecessor for laying a good foundation for him to thrive upon.

He said that as a grounded officer who is versatile, and with his years of experience gained from serving in the command, he will not compromise when it comes to revenue generation, stakeholder’s engagement, and the improvement of work ethics.

“My main goal is to generate revenue seamlessly, without blemish. Like I said, it’s not enough for you to be seasoned, It’s not only enough for you to be grounded and technically super, you need the support of everyone and that’s what I’m going to leverage on but we must have all hands on deck to achieve a common goal.”

The outgoing controller, ACG Dera Nnadi, praised Onyeka as a skilled leader with a professional instinct for trade facilitation, revenue generation, and anti-smuggling feats. Nnadi solicited support from stakeholders and officers for the new CAC, highlighting Onyeka’s unique interpersonal skills, strict adherence to trade compliance, and innovative approach to achieving results.

“With this deployment to Tincan Island Acting Compt Onyeka will usher in his years of experience and training to uphold the Controller General of Customs’ Policy Trust of collaboration, consolidation, and innovation. He has a unique interpersonal skill, yet very strict to trade compliance, and laden with innovative ideas to achieve results. He is a workaholic that attracts success at all levels.”
