…Recover G-3 Rifle, Other Arms, Ammunition
The operatives of the Delta State Police Command said they have raided many criminal hideouts in the state and arrested a number of suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists.
The operatives said that during the operations, one G-3 rifle, one berretta pistol, three locally made cut-to-size guns, one pump action gun, three locally fabricated single barrel guns and one locally fabricated gun were recovered from the man of the underworld.
Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Command confirmed the arrests.
Edafe, a Superintendent of Polce (SP), said that while acting on an intelligence-led investigation carried out on the arrest of some suspected kidnappers on January 30, 2025, who have been terrorizing Abraka/Obiaruku/Umutu, the operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson made a significant achievement.
Edafe said that team stormed the hideout on the February 2, 2025, and busted the house of the fleeing gang leader, identified as Emeka (male), surname unknown at about 4.35pm.

He said the house was located at Evwokenren layout off Ughelli road, Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government Area (LGA), Delta State.
During the raid, the police image maker said a fabricated semi-automatic Beretta pistol with four rounds of live ammunition, four locally made cut-to-size guns, thirteen rounds of live cartridges, and a pair of military uniforms concealed in a black polythene bag were recovered.
“The suspect is in custody and a manhunt to arrest other members of his gang is ongoing,” Edafe said.
In another operation, he said that at about 4pm, operatives of Safer 025 of Safer highway patrol, while on stop and search duty along Benin/Agbor road, conducting stop-and-search on a commercial vehicle along Agbor/Benin express road, arrested three suspects in possession of three locally made long guns and charms.
“The suspects namely, Buhari Bala, aged 28years, Habibu Sale aged 25years, Abdulwahab Musa, aged 20years and Taisu Bala aged 20years all male suspects, claimed they were coming from Zaria, Kaduna State and going to a bush before Benin called Igbogri community for hunting expedition. The suspects are in custody and investigation is ongoing.”
In an earlier development, Edafe said that on January 17, 2025, while acting on a tip-off, the DPO Agbarho Division, CSP Pius Eredei mobilized and led operatives to the apartment of one Eriga Enyuche (m) aged 40years.
He said that upon a search of his one-room apartment, one G-3 rifle and one pump action gun were recovered where they were hidden in the ceiling of the room, adding that investigation was ongoing.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda has reiterated that the command under his watch would not relent in the fight against crime and criminality.
He said that Delta state would remain hot for criminals.
The Police boss therefore urged members of the public to continue to make available useful, timely, and credible information to the Police by reporting to the nearest police station or by calling the command control room numbers.
