The President – General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi has extoled Nigerian Workers for their resilience, commitment, dedication and determination to keep pushing the wheel of progress in spite the numerous challenges faced in all of the nation’s industrial sectors.

Bunu urged Nigerian workers to keep the flag flying as there’s nothing as being diligent in giving dignity to labour, (that’s the works of your hands), which would eventually speak for you as a Nigerian, wherever you may find yourself.

He noted that such workers would not be left unrewarded, adding that a diligent workman will definitely be paid his wages, entitlements, and handsomely rewarded.

The indefatigable labour leader admonished Nigerian workers to stand tall in their various professions and live up to their professionalism by demanding their legitimate rights, saying that no matter how difficult it may seem, the government will definitely see the positive sides to listen to the Workers plights and comply to every demand made.

The Delta State born business administrator, maritime expert and seasoned sailor also congratulated the Union’s workers comprising of the four branches, the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), dockworkers, seafarers and the shipping branch for their unwavering commitment towards moving the maritime industry to an envious and achievable heights in the comity of global world.

Comrade Bunu also showered praises on the critical stakeholders of the industry, stressing that the only way the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria and stakeholders would  continue to enjoy relative peace, harmony and cordial working relationship is by keeping to the mutual and understanding relationship both have struck over time;  urging the stakeholders not to relent as the Union is always committed to seeing a vibrant port operations by means of efficient and effective service delivery as operated across the world. He stressed that by so doing, the workers must not be neglected in their welfares and remunerations.

The MWUN PG also said that he’s not unaware of the numerous changes being experienced on daily basis, given the harsh economy and the high inflation of essential commodities.

He noted that the Federal Government is also not unaware, but believes that in no distant time, the government will rise to the occasion to put smiles on the faces of the Nigerian resilient workers.

He wished all Nigerians and Workers a memorable May Day and prayed that their committed efforts towards the economic buoyancy for the nation would be in vain.
