The Tincan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), led by Comptroller Frank Okechukwu Onyeka, said that it generated over N347 billion revenue to the federal government coffers in the first quarter of 2025.

The Command, which is the second largest Customs Command in Nigeria by size, trade volume and value, has averred continuous improvement in the performance of its core mandate.

Recalled that the baton of leadership at the Command changed hands on December 20, 2024, ushering in a new helmsman, Comptroller Onyeka, who according to industry observers, had been quite tremendous in the handling of all affairs at the Command.

A breakdown of the revenue generation showed that in January 2025, the command generated a total of N116, 412,735,766.23, which represented 24.06% over and above the figure of N88, 430,126,122.76 recorded within the corresponding period of 2024. The record for February of 2025, also showed that the command netted N103,254,292,839.23k; which was also 2.90 % over and above the sum of N100,253,187,074.72k generated over the corresponding Month of February 2024.

The Command generated the sum of N128,268,749,635.00k for March 2025 and this was 10.3% higher than the ₦115,100,000,000.00k generated over the corresponding period of 2024.

The total amount generated for the first quarter of 2025 was thus N347,935,672,476.00k, which was 12.6% higher than the N304,000,000,000.00k generated in the corresponding period of 2024.

Comptroller Onyeka disclosed this in Lagos while fielding questions from journalists at the conference room of the Command.

Comptroller Onyeka also used the occasion to harp on the need for stakeholders to do more honest declarations so that seamless operational environment may exist, and all sides may benefit from a much better conducive ecosystem.

He was particularly appreciative of the support of the CG of Customs and the positive reviews that the media had so far accorded the Command.

Comptroller Onyeka promised to continue to engage stakeholders in every way possible so that there would be more all-round improvement in all aspects of their operations.

The Customs Area Controller, Tincan Island Command, Comptroller Onyeka, has been described as a quintessential and charismatic Controller who is seen by most stakeholders as having hit the ground running since assumption of office.

He, according to stakeholders, had been in the forefront of employing the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi’s policy of consolidation, collaboration and innovation in carrying out his functions, adding that these have rightly aided his performances at the Command.
