The accident vehicle

Six passengers coming from Ebonyi State, survived death by a whisker in the late hours of Tuesday when a Sienna bus-car conveying them fell into a shallow valley and somersaulted severally, after the Federal Road Safety Corp, FRSC Command Office in Awka.
Two of the victims on board the R.C.M Motors Company Limited, with registration number: AKL 771 YL, said they are students of a tertiary institution in Ebonyi State, and were returning to Anambra State after their school was shut down to contain widespread transmission of the Coronavirus.
Our correspondent, who was among the rescue team, said some of the passengers with minor injuries continued their journey, while two male passengers, who perhaps sustained internal injuries, were taken to hospital for medical attention.
The accident was attributed to wrong overtaking between the ill-fated vehicle and a trailer heading towards Onitsha, which continued it’s movement and nobody was able to get it’s details.
According to Sector Public Education Officer, Mr. Pascal A. Anigbo, “the injured victims were rushed to Princeton Orthopedic Hospital”, Awka by FRSC rescue team from Awka, which later arrived at the accident scene.
He disclosed that at the hospital, “a good Samaritan who preferred to remain anonymous donated a sum of N20, 000 as deposit for immediate treatment of the injured victims.”
Mr. Anigbo further disclosed that, while admonishing motorists to be tolerant on the road, avoid speed limit violations and all forms of dangerous driving, Anambra State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Andrew Kumapayi wished the injured victims quick recovery.
It was gathered that items recovered at the crash scene including a leather bag containing the sum of N7,990.00, a jerk and a spare tyre, were deposited at the FRSC Command in Awka.
