… Suspects Include Kidnappers, Robbers, Rapists, Cultists, Murderers Among Others

The operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have said that they have raided various criminal hideouts in the state and arrested 27 suspected criminals.
Benjamin Hundeyin, Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command confirmed this during a press briefing in Lagos.
Hundeyin, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), said the operations were carried out in two weeks.
The Police Image Maker said that during this period, operatives arrested 27 suspects involved in various
criminal activities, including murder, defilement, kidnapping, armed robbery, vandalism,
cultism, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition among others.
He revealed that from the cases, the Command recovered a total of two firearms, seven ammunition,
one vehicle, one tricycle, three battle axes, three cutlasses, charms and other contraband.
Giving a detailed analysis of the operations and arrest, CSP Hundeyin said that on April 27, 2025 at about 9pm, detectives of the Command received a report from a 15-year-old female survivor, who alleged that on same day at about 8pm, one Kalid (m) invited her from Orile to Yusuf Esan area of Amukoko, where the said Kalid and seven others forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
“Based on the report, a team of police detectives was immediately mobilized to the scene where
three of the suspects namely Awali Alabi (m) aged 20, Saliu Anafi (m) aged
18 and Basit Nurudeen (m) aged 16, were arrested while others escaped. The survivor has been taken to General Hospital, Suru-Alaba, Amukoko for examination and treatment. Meanwhile, the suspects are currently assisting the police with useful information towards arresting other fleeing suspects involved,” the PPRO said, adding that investigation was in progress.
He also disclosed that on April 27, 2025 at about 1.30pm, operatives of the Command received a
distress call that one Quadri (m) aged 25 was attacked by two suspected cultists armed with dangerous weapons at Alagbado area.
He said that a team of operatives immediately mobilized to the scene where the suspects identified as Riliwan Afuape (m) aged 26 and Bamidele Ayobami (m) aged 29, were arrested and detained, while the victim was rescued with a machete cut on his right hand and rushed to General Hospital, Ile-Epo for treatment.
He said that preliminary enquiry revealed that the victim was attacked as a result of his refusal to join the suspects’ cult group, noting that investigation was in progress.
In another incident of murder and arrest of suspected armed robbers, as well as recovery of armed and ammunition, the police image maker disclosed that on April 28, 2025 at about 7am, operatives of the Command received a distress call that two suspected armed robbers caught by an angry mob were
being beaten and about to be lynched.
The said the incident occurred at Suru Alaba Community, Ajegunle.
“Based on the report, operatives were immediately mobilized to the scene where the suspects namely Azeez Anafi (m), aged 25 alias “stainless” and Damilare Brown (m), 25-year-old were rescued and taken into police custody, while a locally made pistol with one expended cartridge and a suspected stolen tricycle, were recovered at the scene.
“However, preliminary enquiry revealed that the suspects and their cohorts still at large, fired at a rider named Abubakar (m) aged 35, while they were attempting to dispossess him of his motorcycle at the aforementioned community and he died on the spot. The corpse has been evacuated and deposited
at a public morgue for autopsy. Meanwhile, the suspects have been properly detained in police custody and exhibits have been registered accordingly. Effort is ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the group. Investigation is in progress,” the police image maker assured.
In another development, CSP Hundeyin said that on April 29, 2025 at about 1.30am, a team of operatives of the Command acted on a credible intelligence and successfully arrested eight suspected cultists
namely- Ayomide Daniel (m) aged 30, Afeez Enitan (m) aged 28, Mayor Samson (m) aged 28, Olamilekan Adeagbo (m) aged 26 alias “skinny”, Quadri Sikiru (m) aged 26, Mariam Salihu (f) aged 23, Adeyemo Abdulsamad (m) aged 24 alias “cloud” and Basit Ishola (m) aged 20 at Sabo-Yaba.
He said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were involved in several cases of cult related killings within Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Sabo and its environs.
“Upon searching the suspects, one Berretta pistol with four rounds of live 9mm
ammunition, one unexpended cartridge, two battle axes and two cutlasses were recovered from them,” he said, pointing out that the suspects were assisting the police in its investigations.
In another case of defilement, the PPRO satiated that on April 29, 2025 at about 9.30pm, detectives of the Command received a report from a complainant who reported that one Peter Onehi (m) aged 48 of Amukoko area, had carnal knowledge of his physically challenged daughter aged 16, on
several occasions and at about 10.30pm, of same date, he was caught indecently assaulting the survivor in his house at the aforementioned area. Based on the report, a team of detectives visited the scene of crime where the suspect was arrested while the survivor has been taken to General Hospital, Ajeromi for
examination and treatment. Meanwhile, investigation is in progress.”
“On May 1, 2025 at about 1650hrs, detectives of the Command received a report from a complainant who reported that his son one Hassan (m) aged 14 was kidnapped by a group of suspected kidnappers at Olodi-Apapa area and the sum of N20,000,000.00 ransom was demanded for his release.
“Operatives were immediately deployed to the point of ransom collection at Total Filling Station, Wema Bridge, Apapa. The team arrested one of the kidnappers namely Musa Shaibu (m) aged 25. The team also went to the kidnappers’ criminal hideout at a hotel in Ajegunle area, where the victim was kept. He was rescued unhurt, debriefed and reunited with his family while the manager of the hotel one
Remilekun Ajilola (f) age 41yrs was also arrested taken into Police custody for investigation. Investigation is in progress.”
The PPRO further disclosed that on May 1, 2025 at about 9.40pm, operatives of the Command received
information that a group of hoodlums were reported to be on their way to Okekoto area of Agege, to sell a KIA Cerato (black colour), which they had removed from where it was parked at Alapere-Ketu.

“A team of operatives was immediately mobilized to the scene where three suspects namely Oluwafemi Oladapo (m) aged 28, Idris Mustapha (m) aged 28 and Sefianu Usman (m) aged 29 were arrested and the vehicle recovered from them. The vehicle owner has been contacted and the vehicle handed over to him after careful verification. Meanwhile, investigation is ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate.”
On May 2, 2025 at about 11.30pm, a complainant, according to the PPRO, reported that his younger
brother, one Damilola (m) was stabbed with a knife on the stomach by his girlfriend, one Precious Anegbeode (f) during an argument between them at about 11pm of May 1, 2025 at Ijegun area.
He disclosed that the victim was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty at Alimosho General Hospital.
He added that a team of homicide detectives visited the scene and arrested the suspect.
The hospital, according to him was also visited where the corpse was inspected and photographed while the knife used to stab the deceased was recovered as exhibit. He disclosed that the case has been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
Also, on May 3, 2025 at about 6.30pm, the Police image maker asserted that a team of operatives of the Command, while on patrol of Onikan area, responded to a distress call and immediately mobilized
to a Stadium at Onikan, where a group of hoodlums were attempting to rob a passerby of his personal items.
“The operatives arrested two suspects namely Noah Olaniyi (m) aged 30 and Ojo Samuel (m) aged 25, while others escaped. On searching the suspects, one live cartridge was recovered. The suspects have been detained in police custody and the exhibit has been registered accordingly.
Investigation is in progress to arrest other fleeing members of the group.”
On May 6, 2025 at about 2.20am, bade on credible information received that three
suspected vandals were seen vandalizing the street light cables along IjegunJakande road by Fire Junction, Ijegun, a team of operatives, according to Hundeyin, was swiftly mobilized to the scene where two of the suspects namely Jemilu Abdullahi (m) aged 28 and Samsondeen Isiaku (m) aged 20, were arrested with some vandalized street light cables while the other escaped. The suspects, according to him, have been detained in police custody, while the exhibits have been registered
accordingly.
“On May 6, 2025 at about 8pm, detectives of the Command received information that during a heated argument between one Philip Ogbuehi (m) aged 46 and the deceased over the right of passage at a Lounge in Ogidan Sangotedo area, Lagos, the said Philip reportedly punched the deceased on the chest. The deceased shortly after went unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was
confirmed dead by a doctor. Detectives immediately visited the scene where the suspect was arrested. The corpse has been deposited at Mainland Hospital Mortuary, Yaba, awaiting autopsy. Investigation is ongoing.”
Finally, a case of defilement, according to the PPRO was reported on April 30, 2025 in which the complainant reported on behalf of her two daughters aged 14 years and 12 years, against her
husband, one Best Orji (m) aged 39. The complainant alleged that her husband defiled
their two daughters at Surulere area, hence her report which led to the arrest of the
suspect. Medical report was obtained from a Sexual Assault Referral Center (SARC). The suspect was subsequently arraigned on May 9, 2025 for defilement under section 137 of criminal laws of Lagos State, 2015. All suspects are to be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation. We would like to use this medium to assure all residents and visitors to Lagos State that under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, that crime and criminality would be brought to a minimum as we would continue to ensure optimal management and deployment of human and operational resources
across the entire length and breadth of the State. We implore Lagosians not to hesitate to contact the police if they see any suspicious activities around them,” CSP Hundeyin enthused.
