CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, Commissioner of Police, Delta State Police Command

The Delta State Police Command said it raided various criminal hideouts in the state, arresting suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists and illegal drug dealers.

Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Command, who disclosed this said it was a result of intensified war against crime by the Command, which is sending strong message to criminal elements operating within the state.

Edafe, a Superintendent of Police (SP), said that in two separate sting operations carried out within last week, the Command dismantled a suspected drug syndicate in Agbor and intercepted armed robbery suspects in Ogwashi-Uku, recovering illicit drugs, firearm and live ammunition.

He said, “In a separate operation on September 17, 2025, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ogwashi-Uku Division, CSP Israel Okomoyon, led a joint patrol comprising officers of the division and local vigilantes. During the operation, the team intercepted three young men riding on a motorcycle. The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Ibekwe (m) (25yrs), Victor Chibuzor (m) (25yrs), and Zakaria Joro (m) (25yrs), all residents of Ogwashi-Uku, were subjected to a search, which led to the recovery of an English pistol loaded with two rounds of live ammunition. The suspects failed to provide any satisfactory explanation for having the firearm. Consequently, both the suspects and the recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Anti-Kidnapping Squad for further investigation.”

The English pistol and ammunition recovered from suspected criminals by the police in Delta State.

The PPRO also disclosed that on September 13, 2025, operatives of the Delta State Eagle Net Special Squad, led by the Commander, SP Danyaya Yunusa, in a joint operation with the Nigeria Hunters Forest Security Service (NHFSS), while acting on credible intelligence, stormed a hotel situated along the Asaba/Benin Expressway, Agbor.

He said the raid led to the arrest of ten adult suspects, including Markwuye Peter (m) of Ifeanyichukwu street, Agbor, identified as the owner of the hotel.

“A substantial quantity of illicit drugs was recovered during the operation. The suspects are currently in custody, while discreet investigations have commenced to unravel the full extent of their criminal activities.”
