The People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) Bauchi State Chapter, has through it Counsel, withdrew its petitions filed at the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal against the election of Governor Bala Mohammed.

It could be recalled that PDM at the beginning of the Governorship election tribunal petitions in Bauchi challenged the election of Senator Mohammed for non-inclusion of their party logo in the balot paper of the governorship election that produced the PDP candidate as Governor of the state.

The chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Salihu Shuaibu granted the withdrawal of the party’s petitions at the Tribunal sitting at the high court complex, Bauchi.

Responding to questions by journalists shortly after the hearing, led counsel to the PDM, Barrister Aliyu Lemu, said the withdrawal of the petitions was necessitated, motivated and influenced  by the multiple  achievements recorded by Governor  Mohammed in less than 70 days of his administration.

Barrister Lemu, further explained that after wider consultations with relevant stakeholders at the top and  members of the PDM in the state, they decided to withdraw their case and  join hands with the administration in the state to provide citizens with meaningful development which was denied to them in the last four years.

He observed that Governor Mohammed’s  blueprint for development of the state is in line with that of PDM.

Barrister Lemu assured that PDM would support and cooperate with the present administration for the speedy development of the state and for the success of the administration to provide rapid growth and development denied in the past.

On his part, counsel to Governor Mohammed at the tribunal, Barrister Ben Ubuntu, thanked the PDM for the withdrawal which indicates sign of victory over All Progressives Congress (APC) which will provide them the opportunity to face  APC in a more serious legal battle which will eventually enable the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerge victorious at the end of the Tribunal’s sittings in the state.
