The PMS seized from oil thieves and pipeline vandals by the Operatives of Lagos State Command of NSCDC
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, Badagry Division, has said that during a routine surveillance and patrol, at about 4:50 am, it raided the hideouts of some suspected oil pipeline vandals and recovered illegal products.
The recovery was made up of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), which were found in kegs, sacks and plastic containers among others.
SC Oluwaseun Abolurin, Civil Defence PRO, Lagos State Command, disclosed in a statement signed on Thursday.
Abolurin said: “The Command relied upon credible and actionable intelligence from the good people of Badagry, before directing its personnel to forestall, the already organized, method by which the unscrupulous elements initially, wanted, to use to syphon, their illegally, gotten petroleum products to the neighbouring countries bordering Badagry.”
He added that the exhibits recovered, from the routine patrol of the Badagry Divisional office, led, by Chief Superintendent of Corps Ekunola Gbenga include the followings below; 70 yellow kegs of 25ltrs each of PMS, 1 fifteen liters keg, 1 x10 liters keg, 6  x 5 liters keg, 250 big and 70 plastic bottles, 3 small sacks of Petroleum Motor Spirit ( PMS).
Other exhibits, according to him include 1 motorcycle seat and 1 tank.
Meanwhile, the State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro,  has pledged zero tolerance towards oil pipeline vandalism, syphoning of oil products and other forms of economic sabotage, by unscrupulous elements in the state.
He further said that the seizure was in line with the unflinching efforts, of the Commandant General, NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to rid the nation of economic saboteurs, vandals and oil thieves hampering the wheel of progress in the downstream sector of the nation’s economy.
He further stressed that the Command has beefed up its intelligence and operational strategies, to respond to the disturbing activities of elements, who may want to exhibit their desperation for illicit money at all costs, by carrying out their unpatriotic and dastardly acts capable of jeopardizing the good and developmental policies of government.
Investigation into the matter according to the image maker of the Lagos said Command of the Corps was ongoing as the Lagos State Commandant had directed the relevant department to take necessary actions and ensure that the fleeing culprits are apprehended and brought to book in the short possible time.
