Mikel moves to Middlesbrough as free agent

Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi has returned to England after two years playing in China joining Championship club-side Middlesbrough on a short deal.

Mikel left China’s Tianjin Teda at the end of the season in November, 2018. He is joining the second-tier club as a free agent.

Mikel played for Premiership side Chelsea, winning two English Premier League titles, three FA Cups and the UEFA Champions League in 2012.

The Super Eagles had played for Plateau United, Jos, in Plateau State before moving overseas for professional football.

Apex News gathered that the midfielder’s move to England was to get close to his young family.
