Chief Executive Officer , Micura Services Limited, High Chief Orobosa Michael Ubogu led his team to a 2 nil loss to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in the ongoing Ships and Ports football competition in Lagos.

The Chief Executive Officer, who graced the opening ceremony and played with his staff urged organisers of the competition to encourage full participation of staff from all the registered teams instead of encouraging professional footballers to play the round leather.

According to him staff participate in the maritime cup competition will be more lively and fun because of the existing familiarization among them.
He recalled that Micura team pulled out of the competition years back because of the desperation of the participants to win at all cost which was not the motive for the creation of the competition.

He urged Ships & Ports to build more on the idea and insist that if a team member is not working in an organization, he should not play in the tournament.

“I told my team, we are not coming with anyone whose name is not on the payroll, we are here to play and enjoy the football, not necessarily to win.

He explained that the competition was created for people to meet up, enjoy themselves, fraternize after the football activities but said that when the Nigerian factor came in, it made participant teams to start including mercenaries within their members so, they pulled out but they are back this year to see if the narrative has changed.

Ubogu“We are doing capacity and team building development for my staff. I told them to come and enjoy themselves. We are not here to win or lose the game but to mingle with other stakeholders. That is why we have our stand, after the game, we will enjoy ourselves and catch some fun. We are just here to enjoy ourselves,” he said.

This he said will help to uphold the idea behind the competition which is to enable different companies within the maritime sector come together, know themselves, exchange contacts and collaborate.

He also advised other Directors in the maritime industry to do so.
