Government Secondary School, Fadan Kaje Old Student’s Association (GOSSFAKOSA), in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State has  showered eulogies on one of its renowned Principals, Rev. Fr. John Haverty who died July, 8.

The association gave the  tribute in its message on Saturday during Requiem Mass in honor of the late  Haverty at the School premises in Fadan Kaje.

Bala James Tokan, President of GOSSFAKOSA, noted that the deceased moulded the old students with great qualities and values which enabled them to become men and women of unquestionable integrity in the society.

“Late Rev. Fr. John Haverty had zero tolerance for discipline and  high taste for success, principled, jovial and sociable,” he said.

In his sermon at the occasion Rev. Fr. Philip Mugu said the legacy of late Haverty was a challenge to the next generation of people in leadership position, especially in the education sector.

He called on them to be productive and exhibit innovation to be able to impact positively on the lives of the people.

“Late Rev. Fr. Haverty gave himself wholeheartedly in transforming the lives of the students he tutored, most of whom have become great men and women in their spheres influences,” he said.

He challenged the old students of the school to contribute their quota in the overall development of their alma mater.

Mr Bartholomew Dodo, Principal of the school, in a goodwill message, commended the turnout of the persons to the occasion, a development he described as historic.

He urged the people, especially the old students of the school,to see to the development of the school for future generation.

Also, Mr Nuhu Bature, the Agom Bajju, expressed satisfaction over the achievements recorded, over the years, by the old students who he said had made tremendous sacrifices.

The Royal Father challenged the students of the school to live up to the expectation of the sacrifice made by the pioneer students.

NAN reports that the late Haverty served as Principal of the then St. Mary Secondary School now Government Secondary School, Fadan Kaje for 13 years and worked in the school between 1968-1981 before his death in July 2019.

The occasion witnessed payers and song rendition and graced by unprecedented turnout of people from all works of life, including old and the old current students of the students,  traditional rulers and politicians among other members of the public. (NAN)
