FG commended on handling xenophobic attacks

Alhaji Uba is leader, Northern Youth peace and Reconciliation Initiative

A non-governmental organization, Northern Youth peace and Reconciliation Initiative (NYPARI), has commended the Federal Government over the handling of the xenophobic crisis that erupted in South Africa.

The Director-General of the organization Alhaji Auwal Lawan Uba disclosed this in a press statement in Abuja.

He condemned the xenophobic act and called on Nigerian youths to avoid the temptation of engaging in any reprisals.

According to the statement, Nigerians especially the youth should avoid taking the laws into their hands by attacking South African or their business interests.

Uba commended the Nigerian government for taking the steps it has taken so far with regards to her timely intervention both in protecting South African citizens as well as the diplomatic response.

The NYPARI commended President Buhari for recalling the Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, calling off participation at the World Economic Forum and offering free flight to enable stranded Nigerian to return among other measures.

Uba also called on Nigerians to support the federal government’s efforts of finding lasting solution to mitigating the incessant xenophobic attacks that are fast eroding values as Africans.
