Exclusive: N2bn fraud: ICPC petitioned over VC, Federal University, Wukari, Prof. Kundiri

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has been petitioned in a case of alleged salary fraud against the Vice Chancellor, Federal University, Wukari, Taraba State, Professor Abubakar Musa Kundiri, amounting to N2billion.
The petition, written by one Maijama’a A. Hassan, dated May 17, 2019, was acknowledged by ICPC, Abuja, on May 31, 2019. The petition is captioned “Salary fraud in Federal University Wukari.”
According to the petition sighted by Apex News, it alleged that Professor Kundiri perfected the fraud through a memo he presented to the Governing Council of the university, of which a committee was set-up to review the appointment of staff in a guise of what was called “Proper placement at the point of entry into the university.”
The petition stated that 95% of the workers were reviewed downwards with cut in salaries from between N50, 000 and N200, 000 monthly but were not ploughed back to the university coffers.
Furthermore, the petitioner alleged that the exercise which was implemented in November 2017, did not receive approval of the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation, National Salaries and Wages Commission, Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget Office and the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation among others.
Apex News could not ascertain whether the anti-graft agency has commenced investigation into the matter or not.
