Ex-IPAC chairman, Chief Okereke condemns attack on former Senate President, wants perpetrators prosecuted

Former Deputy Senate President, Ekweremadu was manhandled in Germany on Saturday

The former Chairman Inter-Party Advisory Council(IPAC) and former Presidential Candidate for the 2003 and 2007 General Election under the platform of African Liberation Party, (ALP) Chief Osita Emmanuel Okereke, OON, has in every strong term condemned the shameful assault melted on the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu at Nuremberg, Germany.

Chief Okereke while speaking to Apex News  in Abuja said the attacked really showed that the attackers are nothing but hooligans and terrorists which could go to any extend to achieve their wicked aims.

Senator Ekweremadu was to give a keynote address at the Second Igbo Annual Cultural Festival and Convention organised by Ndi-Igbo Germany in Nuremberg city when a mob, which identified itself as members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), invaded the venue and attacked an illustrious son of Ndigbo who in his political political career has consistently identified with Ndi-Igbo people.

“It is unthinkable that such a thing could happened to Ekweramadu, who is also a serving Senator, it shows the kinds of group IPOB is and what should have happen if they where granted what they have been agitating for in this country”.

He urged the German security operatives and authorities to identify those involved in the despicable act so that the law can take its course against them so as to effect more arrest and prosecution”.

Responding to a question as to whether the proscription of the group was in order, he answered in the affirmative urging government to begins the process where the arrowhead should be repatriated into the country for possible prosecution.

 

Chief Okereke who observed that the disbanded IPOB does not represents the collective interest of Igbo nation reached their selfish aim of forming the group without consulting decision makers in Igbo land stressing that they are on their own

He maintained that attacked on Senator Ike Ekwremadu is also an attack on every igboman urging security agencies in the country to step up their modus operandi in order arrest and prosecute all with IPOP agenda.

“Their modus operandi is the same like that of terrorist who attack people, government at all levels must not fold their arms to see these people terrorising ,attacking peoples”.

On the way forward, he appealed to the Federal Government to immediately request for video footprint of the incident in Germany to enable them arrest all involved they visit Nigeria.

He also advised those agitating for Igbo presidency to drop their ambition maintaining that what should be of utmost important to Nigerians is not where the next president comes from but his ability to deliver Nigerians from the shackle of poverty and perennial insecurity problems adding that power is divine.
“What really matter is not where the president come from, Nigerian president can come from Igbo-land, Buhari is not a Fulani President, Obasanjo was not a Yoruba president but a Nigerian President” he explained.

Chief Okereke is currently the Director General, National Taskforce to Combat Illegal Importation of Small Arms, Ammunition, Light Weapon, Chemical Weapon and Pipeline Vandalism and other related Matters, (NATFORCE) in Nigeria.
