The Coalition of Integrity Political Parties (CIPP) has lauded the judgement of the Presidential Tribunal which affirmed the election of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The tribunal had on Wednesday dismissed the petition of Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who challenged the victory of Buhari in the February 23 election.
CIPP reacting to the judgement in a statement signed by its national spokesman, Dr. Yakubu Shendam said it was victory for judiciary, democracy and the nation in general and called on the former Vice President to accept the verdict and support the President in the interest of the nation.
“We as a group have consistently insisted that election is about service and anybody seeking election should understand this fact. In the interest of the development of the nation, we herein urge the PDP and its candidate to accept the verdict of the Tribunal and support President Muhammad Buhari.
“There can never be two winners in one contest. However, all the contestants could resolve to pull resources together in support of the winner in the interest of unity, peace and ultimately progress of the country “, the statement noted.
The CIPP further urged the President to be magnanimous in victory by embracing ideas and individuals from other political parties who are willing to add value to his administration.
“Elections have come and gone. What is required at the moment is good governance that will translate to better living for all Nigerians. And to achieve this, the President must look beyond parties lines and assemble persons with proven competencies that can add value to his government.
