Senator Douye Diri on Wednesday morning won the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) governorship primary for Bayelsa State.
Senator Diri represents Bayelsa Central Senatorial District in the Senate.
Chairman of the party electoral committee and Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku, said Diri scored 561 votes to win his closest rival, Chief Timi Alaibe, who scored 365 votes. 19 others also participated in the polls.
Diri was the preferred candidate for Governor Seriake Dickson’s led restoration caucus.
Diri was a member of the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019, where he represented Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma federal constituency.
