The Bauchi State Government has partnered Bauchi State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BACCIMA) to revive moribund industries in the state, Governor Bala Mohammed has said.
He stated this at the unveiling of the proposed Bauchi State 1st national trade and exhibition fair.
He said there was need for BACCIMA and business community in the state to revive the moribund industries in the state.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy Baba Tela said “I recall with nostalgia the effort of a lot of investment in the early 80s and 90s presents of industries in the state.
“I recall the days of Pepsi, Steyr, Bauchi sweet factory, meet factory and so many others these are now moribund.
“The challenge is to ensure the revival of those industries and to the establishment of new ones,” he said
Mohammed noted that with such partnership, most of the moribund industries in the state would be brought back to the limelight as well as improves the economic situation of the state.
The Governor explained that the purpose of organizing any trade fair was to showcase the industrial and commercial potentials of the participants groups to attract both local and foreign investment.
He added that the Bauchi fair if properly organized will be an avenue for business community to rub-minds and map out a new course for sustainable growth to enhance commercial drive of the state in line with the global best practice.
The BACCIMA President Alhaji Habu Jajere reiterated the determination of the chamber to organize a befitting trade fair this year.
He appreciated the state government for giving them the opportunity to organize the first National Trade Fair in December this year.
In his remarks, Bauchi State Commissioner of Commerce, Industry, Trade and Investment, Alhaji Mohammed Alhassan Sadiq, said the present administration under Senator Mohammed was always ready to provide suitable and conducive environment for investors in the state.
Sadiq said the present administration attaches great importance to promotion, development and offering support services to business activities in the state for economic advantage of our people.
He therefore assured them of hitch free fair and exhibitions in December this year.
