The Commissioner at the inspection

The Anambra State Commissioner for  Transportation, Dr. Christian Mmadubuko has frowned at the rate of road congestion in some parts of the state especially in Awka.

The Commissioner made this known when he embarked on decongestion of Eke Awka Market through Ziks Avenue, to Amawbia with the officials of Anambra State Traffic Agency aimed at ensuring free movement of traffic around the State.

The Commissioner regretted that persistent street trading has continued to cause traffic jam in the market and stated that they embark on the decongestion weekly.

Dr. Mmadubuko said that the government mapped out a designated  place for trading and  urged traders to make use of the market space so as not to expose  themselves to danger and as well  avoid giving others the pain of wasting time on grid locks, warning that government will no longer tolerate any violation of law.

Speaking to newsmen, a trader in the market, Mr. John Nweke, extolled the Commissioner for embarking on the decongestion, stating that it will ease the pain and hardship witnessed in the market.
